Here are just my thoughts on the team. With a great start to her career, Pia Sundhage is definitly a good coach for the WNT, helping them win the Four Nations Tournament and Algarve Cup here in 2008. Unfortunately, Cat Whitehill wasn't able to play in the Four Nations Tournament, but the team still did good, she was able to play in the Algarve Cup and they did a great job, being scored on only once and scoring a total of 10 points in the whole tournament with goals from Abby Wambach, Natasha Kai, Heath Tobin, and Heather O' Reily.
Now that the team is back in the U.S they will start preparing for the Olympic Qualifiers which is a big match in the lives of these players. I think that they will be able to do well because so far in 2008 they have done prodimintly well. Now hear are my thoughts for the team in 2008. I think under Pia they will do an awesome job this year plus adding Heath Tobin and Angie Woznuk on the team could be a good thing, the players look ready to make there country proud, and I'm expecting big things for Heath Tobin and Angie Woznuk, they are skilled players who love the sport and want to make their country proud. The loss of Kristine Lilly is a sad one but I think the team has responded extremely well not having her on the team anymore, and I'm sure they're wishing her luck with her pregnancy and no doubt Kristine will be missed, she was an important player to the team, the most capped and could help all the new comers but now we'll get to see Abby Wambach, Christie Rampone, Lindsey Tarpley and Kate Martgraph step up as the leaders this year
Since the Olympics are this year the team will have to work very hard especially with new and younger players coming upon each team they play, I still think they will do a good job though and hopefully be able to win a gold medal under the coaching of Pia Sundhage, she seems to be a very promising coach. I still hope they will be able to win some gold in the Olympics. We have a very talented team this year who is eager to succeed and wants to make our country proud! Sounds good!Anyways, thats all I have for 2008. I might post some blogs of how they did in 2007.
